The idea behind Steppy came from an Interview with a children's Psychologist from Germany.
With the main topic of the talk: “social behavior of children”, we were focused on the topic of imitation. During the conversation, I came to the conclusion that everything that influences a child also in the future leads back to the childhood. So for me, it was clear to focus on the social circle of kids and what influences it the most. The biggest influence is screen time, parental support, which is taken away during the use of modern media and also the Lifestyle of the social circle. The interview leads back also to a personal problem. As a child, I had the will to always help my parents and my grandparents in the kitchen to cook and prepare food. The problem of getting up to the countertop to help and see what is happening provides me today with the awareness of how to eat healthy.
Sadly, a lot of children worldwide nowadays, dont even learn how to cook properly and a not getting the nutrients they need per day. So I thoughts its time to change it and create something that parents can be assisted by their children while cooking.
It also reminds of the Montessori method, where children discover on their own and progress ideas by themself. With steppy children gain hands-on experience, discover and find out things on their own. For example to reach different heights for grabbing a book, understand the swinging physics and also take steppy everywhere they want. The own exploration in this way is limitless.

After the Design and small 3D model, I decided to bring steppy to live and I let it print with a “WASP” printer in Scale 1:1.
With the weight of 16kg, Steppy is weighing double as much as the original would be.
The surface is not grinded and the grid of the printer is visible.
